Legal Services for International Clients in Malaga

Whether you are buying a property, settling an inheritance or establishing your residency in Malaga, Bru & Muñoz Abogados guides you through the entire process — in your own language, from your first enquiry to the day you no longer need us.

Property Purchase in Malaga – We Check Everything Before You Sign

Before you commit to any property, we carry out full due diligence: land registry and charge searches (cargas), verification that the build is legal and correctly registered, and coordination with the notary and estate agent at every step. If you need a NIE to complete the purchase, we handle that too — so nothing is left for you to chase.

Spanish Wills and Inheritance for Non-Residents

If you own property in Malaga, a Spanish will alongside your will at home can make an eventual inheritance considerably simpler for your family. We explain how cross-border inheritance works between Spain and your home country, and guide your family through every step when the time comes.

Tax Advice for Residents and Non-Residents in Malaga

Property transfer tax, plusvalía, non-resident income tax, and annual tax filing obligations all work differently depending on your residency status. We review your personal situation and explain exactly what applies to you, and take care of the filings on your behalf.

NIE, Residency and Other Legal Procedures

From your first NIE application to opening a Spanish bank account, registering on the padrón, granting a power of attorney, or setting up a company — we handle the paperwork that every foreign resident eventually runs into, so you don't lose weeks navigating the Spanish administration alone.

Why Bru & Muñoz

Why Choose a Solicitor in Malaga Who Knows Your Language and Culture

We Have Been Helping International Clients in Malaga Since the 1990s

Bru & Muñoz Abogados was founded in Málaga in the 1990s and has spent over 25 years helping foreign buyers, residents and investors settle in with confidence. Today the firm is led by Sofía, who continues that same close, personal way of working — one client and one case at a time, not a call centre.

We Work in English, Swedish, Finnish and Portuguese

Legal Spanish is hard enough in your own language. That's why we work with clients directly in English, Swedish, Finnish and Portuguese, as well as Spanish — no relying on a translator, and no important detail lost in translation.

Clients come to us from Benalmádena, Fuengirola, Mijas, Marbella, Estepona, Torremolinos and Málaga city — most of them buying, inheriting or settling in the region for the first time. We are used to explaining Spanish law in plain, everyday language, and to being the one constant point of contact throughout the process.

Our Process

How We Work With You as Your Solicitor in Malaga

Initial consultation

We listen to your situation and what you're trying to achieve, in your own language.

Case review

We review the property, estate or paperwork involved and identify anything that needs attention.

Action proposal

You receive a clear explanation of the steps ahead, before anything is signed.

Full handling

We manage the process end to end, liaising with notaries, registries and authorities on your behalf.

Resolution & aftercare

Once it's resolved, we remain a point of contact for anything that comes up afterwards.

Yes. Many of our clients start the process — and sometimes complete it entirely — before ever setting foot in Spain. We routinely work by video call and email, and where a signature is required, this can usually be arranged through a power of attorney granted in your home country, so you don't need to travel unless you want to.

It isn't a legal requirement, but it is what protects you. We regularly find issues during due diligence that a buyer would never spot alone — undeclared charges on a property, boundaries or extensions that were never registered, or licences that don't match what's being sold. An independent solicitor, working only for you and not for the seller or the agency, is what catches these before you sign, not after.
